Title: Vibrating/Rattling Clutch lever
Post by: speedydave on January 13, 2020, 04:06:08 PM
Good morning,

I picked up a new 2019 s1kr a few weeks ago. Riding has been limited due to winter, but the weather has cooperated some. I have a few buzzy rattles at certain rpm's I am contending with. One was the gas tank cover where the ECU is. I fixed it with some weatherstripping under the center tab.

The next one i'm not sure how to handle. It starts about 6k rpm and gets louder/worse as rpm increases. I isolated it yesterday to the clutch lever. If I pull in the lever slightly it goes away. I checked the bolt and it is tight. I adjusted the cable, and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Has anyone here dealt with a buzzy and noisy clutch lever? How did you fix it?

Thanks

So the answer is the lever needs to be adjusted to where there is no slack in the clutch cable. At that point I donít like the distance from the handlebar. The solution is new adjustable levers.

Thatís the solution I came up with.   Fitted some Rizomaís and problem solved. Watch those micro switch plates if you do the swap as they are a bit feeble.

There should be 0.5 - 1.0 mm of slack at the clutch lever mount per the ownerís manual. Adjusting out all of the slack may have an adverse effect on your clutch action.

Too much free play also stops the quick shifter working.
