Title: Revisiting DDC adjustments for 2018 sS000R.

I just read an article about my 2018 S1000R from MCN and they cited the ability to change the dampening settings in Dynamic Pro.  To quote:  "You can activate Dynamic Pro by plugging in a dongle under the seat and buying the mode map from your BMW dealer. The allows more aggressive suspension damping for the BMW's DDC Semi-active suspension and allows you to tune suspension, traction control and ABS settings too."

My goal is to get the damping more like the 2015-2016DDC Hard setting.  I am hoping that what MCN wrote is possible, but I can't find anything in the manual regarding changing the DDC in Dynamic pro.  Has anyone been able to change their DDC in Dynamic pro????  Any help or comments greatly appreciated.

I think that is only possible on the doubleRR.(but I hope I am wrong!!!)

Read your manual, MCN is wrong on being able to tune the suspension, sorry.

Unfortunately I agree with you.  I have found no way to adjust the suspension through the system.  They might have assumed that what you can do with the RR is also available to the R.  Itís too bad because I like the feel of the 2016 R in ďHardĒ setting.

There are ways. But they made it more like esa and less like ddc

It has been quite a while since I have been on one, but , I think I can help you out. Put it in the sport mode for the ddc (I donít remember options) but the sportiest mode it has. Then hold the suspension button down and set it for 2 up( 2 helmets). Then get some tools, and crank up the preload knob on the shock AND the fork. Idk your weight, but I ran mine pretty close to maxed out.

I have recently learned that the bmw bikes come with ZERO preload. Both ddc and analog. Why. Idk. Thank you Dave Moss for mentioning this.

Having had a 2015 and a 2018,  I like the dash settings better on the 15, but getting an 18 setup like a 15 is much easier when you know about the preload.

After all that, front end became WAY to light and an ohlins damper cures that instantly.

That doesn't make any sense. You still can't adjust damping separately on the R. Whats your weight to run the suspension at such stiff settings? I measured the sag and the front preload still shows 4 rings for me at 200 lb geared. Maybe something is not right as the front does compress quite a bit!

It makes complete sense. Having acknowledged that there is no seperate damping adjustment on the R through the setup menu, all you can do is use the available adjustments. So that means using the sportier riding modes and the two-up option, all of which will increase your damping settings.

Preload is a seperate issue and doesnít affect the stiffness of the suspension. Itís just there to get the suspension working in the correct range of travel (or not if youíre a heavier rider)...

That we already know. The OP was asking about separate rebound and compression damping adjustments like RR has in custom settings

Maybe so, but your reply was to Woody and said that his workaround to increase the damping via the available mode settings made no sense... when it absolutely did make sense!  :027:
