A long reach extension with your Torx socket on the end. The extension needs to be the type with beveled sides so the socket can move sideways a bit. This has to come off every 12,000 miles for the steering head bearing torque check. Done once and you will get it. That whole assembly, as you say is held on with minimal attachment.

How long do you think these extensions need to be?

And I'm not sure I know what you mean by it having beveled sides.  can you post a pic, perhaps?

Assuming that your is a 14-19 model? whilst the manual makes it look that simple, my advise would be to remove screen, side panels and nose fairing, from there you may even want to loosen the head light cluster(2 screws and 2 clips under just behind the steering damper). this will then give you much better access. The 2 upper screws that secure the plastic bracket to the triple are a bit of a bugger to get to)

All good to know - thanks - and yes, mine is a 2018

Maintenance, Servicing, and Mechanical / Adjusting shift lever Gen3

Hey All- Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving
So i never adjusted a shift linkage with an integrated QS
I'm accustomed to the straight bar turn buckle thing
so on the 2022- Do they turn independently? like after breaking the jam nut I have to remove
it from the shifter and dial in the desired length?
or do you break both ends and spin it like a normal turnbuckle?
Thanks in advance...

Accessories, Mods and Appearance / Bar clamp diameter

Hello !

My very first post on this great forum will be to ask for some help!

Just received my brand new to me 2022 S1000R.

I want to install a SP Connect bar mount on the center of the handlebar without the arm in order to make it as low-profile as possible.

In order to do that I must remove the BMW center clamp and replace it with 2 smaller clamps.

I cannot find clamps that fit the diameter of the original one.

Tried to install the 28mm upper clamps from the bar riser kit from SW Motech but they are too small.
https://sw-motech.com/fr/produits/ergonomie/guidon/rehausseur+de+guidon/4052572056585.htm

Would anyone be able to help me on this quest? Would you know of any compatible clamps that would clear the center of the handlebar?

Thank you very much! Will take pics for anyone interested when itís done.

Check engine light, limp mode? Is the connector to the throttle snapped into place well?
