The new model s1000r if definitely a more sporty riding position than the mt10 I fitted the bmw bar risers itís only 10mm but it did make a differenceÖ. You wonít be as comfortable but itís still a great bike ,, itís not uncomfortable itís just not as roomy as the mt10

So I can comment on them ,,, the mt10 is a fun bike and itís comfortable more so than the s1000r ,,, the bars are higher and pegs lower ,, I would often get them scraping , great bike tho I liked it a lot ,,, now the 2019 s1000r was totally different to ride ,, not as comfortable and the suspension was abit more harsh but apart from that still a great bike ,, I went to Germany on both and the Nurburgring ,, and about 8k on both ,,, Iíve done about 5k on my new s1000r and I think itís a better bike In every way than previous model , looks are personal preference but I think it looks better ,, it rides better ,, ,, itís lighter ,,the dash is mint itís got loads more options for adjustment ,, I like the rear lights within the indicators ,,, the brakes are very good ,,, some people just like the name Brembo and donít see the whole picture,,,thatís about it ,,, this is just my opinion .

Thanks for the comparison. How does the new one feel compared to your MT10? I rode my 17 model S1KR to Krakow and it was fine, but my MT10 is definitely more roomy which is great as I am 6í3Ē. Due to lockdown, Iíve only managed Switzerland and Scotland on the MT.

Still donít know why I did it and have regretted it ever since.
Currently riding an MT10, but after a lengthy conversation with the owner of a 21 model last Sunday, and having a good look around his red one, Iím going to run round a couple of dealers in Manchester and Preston to see what they come up with.
MT10 has been great for 3 years, but itís time for a change. Iíll probably miss the riding position but having had two S1KRís Iím sure I can live with it.
Anyone done the same, MT10 to new model beemer and got any comments to make?

The majority of bike dealers these days are awful. I test rode the ZH2 last year and would have had one but that dealer was honest about the servicing costs so I decided against it.

S1000R - General Chat / This bike in Paris
« Last post by RRmaniak on Yesterday at 09:42:36 PM »
this is my dream bike and i have few questions !

In July i'm doing my relocation to Paris from Israel. here in Israel the regular variant of this bike is about 200k Ils which are about 62k$
and the price is just 19k euro in France, which made me able to purchase this bike now

1. i was still unable to understand if the regular model has heated grips or does it fit only in the M version ?
2. is still possible to purchase the M version on another country in europe for a thinner price and drive it to paris?
3. how much is insurance in france and how does the insurance works there, does it cover steal? damage and such?

This is why I bought a new Z900RS in 2018, hated it, tried for another BMW, was ignored so bought a new MT10 😳

Not good enough..Name n shame em..

Have to say, when I was looking for my replacement, the ones I did contact(Wollaston, Bharnstormer and Cotswold ) where absolutely first class communication wise.

Said theyíd ring me this morning....... still waiting...
The reason I defected in 2018 was because despite me going in to the dealer three times I could not get anyone interested in selling me a bike!
Iíve bought two previously in 2015 and 2017 so itís not like Iím a window shopper. Iíve bought two new bikes since 2018 plus two classics!

S1000R - General Chat / Re: Best thermal base layers

+1 on Icebreaker merino.  I have the 260 weight top but not the leggings.  Itís made a significant improvement to my winter riding comfort and doesnít add a lot of cumbersome bulk under my jacket.  The price is a bit saucy though.

I will admit to being a bit of a winter wuss though.  I also wear a Halvarssons merino base layer at the same time, which wasnít much cheaper.
