Hi, I change my bikes every 2 years normally, (I like new shiny things!!). Had 2 s1000r's now and fancy a change so I have a deposit down on a Triumph Speed triple 1200.

The new tuono (standard version-not factory) specs say the bars are higher and the pegs are lower so the new one may interest those looking for less of an rsv4 with bars (instead of clip-ons).

That is the one I sat on...may be different to previous models but in comparison to the 1000R, its a lot more tighter & sportsbike focused.

So on an overall basis, the editors liked the old S1KR better than the new Aprilia and Duc. That is unexpected, but is actually believable to me in any case.  I do wonder how they got their "at the crank" horsepower numbers.  Not easy to measure that.

If you have a GS-911, or can get access to one, you can use it to monitor the status of the microswitches as you pull in the clutch lever.  The motoscan app may offer a similar feature, but not sure.

Bought outright so far for me, tempted with pcp for something like a new RR, but my worry would be doing Trackdays on a bike I donít own and the consequences, plus the cost of comprehensive trackday insurance for a bike thatís worth 15k plus.

Iíve always bought used (Iíve never owned a new bike) and changed every couple of years and the depreciation has been negligible. As Iím quite fussy I always like to improve the bike during my ownership and this ends up usually in a decent resale value.

I buy outright but never spend much more than about £7000.

If I did more miles then I possibly would look at a brand new bike on a PCP deal. I donít see the need to own a brand new bike outright.

Thanks for the advice so far guys/gals.  I see a lot of bikes on the net but soon got confused.I started off looking at 6k area for budget but then seemed to jump up th 8k as i found lower milage and newer bikes. I really don't need a new one but would be happy to spend 6-8K but quite flexible on budget. Important things for me are service history, well looked after pref by an enthusiast, no salty corrosion and pref lowish milage with any recalls taken care of etc.
Im an enthusiastic engineer type of person so don't like any neglect of the bike
Thanks for looking
