Auxiliary power socket on 21
on: June 10, 2021, 03:36:28 PM
Both my gs and rs had an extra switched power to connect a sat nav and as I understand the s1k also has this under the left panel had a look today and couldnít spot it the only one similar had a connection so does Bmw use it to power the aux socket under passenger seat or any suggestions where to look.
                        Thanks george r

There is not one on the S1000 bikes.  Only a USB connector under the piliion seat.  Itís a small hassle when I want to charge the battery.

I just routed a 2m USB cable from the port under the pillion seat down through to the battery and under the black plastic around the fuel tank and up where the clutch cable comes out. Easy to install, follow the BMW instructions on installing the sat nav for how to take the panels off.

Great idea will use this to run power to tankbag 👍

Is there a cable with a waterproof female usb I could leave in place at headstalk like bs1k did and feed into tankbad when fitted with a male usb at other end to plug into pillion charger all the ones I can see have connections to power from battery internet search so far blank

I have no association with site but am looking at this one https://www.nippynormans.com/f650st-f650cs-f650gs-f650-dakar/bmw-harness-to-female-usb-socket regarding your question in last post, George. Not exactly answering the question but it provides waterproof female USB on ignition-switched line. Trouble is it uses the port under the tank which I think you are already using for TomTom. For me though it is perfect to power a phone on the bars or tankbag leaving the pillion seat port free for anything else.

This looks like what you're after Georamage.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264710687266

But two issues, its only 1m long, might have to get another 1m extension cable and then waterproof the connection yourself, some heat shrink and electrical tap should be enough?
And its the AUS ebay site, so your mileage may vary in the UK.

An alternative idea could be to just get a regular 2m extension cable and just chuck a dust cover on the female end and call it a day.
