Have not seen any feedback on here yet, but on the RR forum there are guys with over 6000km on their endurance chains - no oiling, no cleaning, no adjustment. If it last s as long as a standard chain and  requires none of those I will be happy.

Mr SimonUK

Thanks for that.
I wonder if the 2 forums would be better of amalgamated as one given the commonality of both bikes.
Might register.

Regards

I've got about 500 miles on an Endurance chain I installed on my bike. Granted not a lot but I can say that it looks the same as the day it was installed. It has an odd finish to it but it looks exactly as it did on day one and is functioning just fine. Pricey but I'm glad I installed it since it will require no maintenance.

What's the average lifespan of a standard chain on the S1000r?

Windyrun, just out of curiosity, where did you purchase your M performance chain?  Did you have to remove any links or was it a direct swap?  Lastly, could I utilize the stock adjuster blocks for tensioning? thanks!

I can't offer too much advice on install since I purchased it from my local BMW dealer and had them install it during its annual service. They did say that they recommended replacing the sprocket at the same time since that was customary when replacing any chain. Just offering this last part...not that it had anything to do with the endurance feature but they did say that and I followed their advice.

I just ordered parts form KFM in Germany, including Endurance chain for the R and XR(probably saving at least 35%, including the shipping cost). Not sure why you would not be able to use the stock adjuster blocks, the chain is the same length as stock, so should be a direct fit, as Windyrun says, replace the sprockets as well, pointless spending all that $$ on the chain and then skimping on the sprockets.
