R or XR (Low Chassis) for shorter folks
on: April 05, 2021, 05:05:25 PM
I am looking at these two bikes trying to figure out which one I would want to go with.  I'm 5'7 with a 30" inseam, so was hopping to get some feedback from those of us on the shorter side.  That said also pushing into my 50's so I was thinking XR with the low Suspension or the R with bar risers.  Has anyone tryied both and any feedback?

You should be fine on a regular R or a lowered XR. I'm about the same height

My inseam is only 29 inches on a good day and the R was no problem at all, even with the slightly thicker comfort seat.

I canít speak for the XR but the low seat option makes my GS manageable - so might be worth checking out the low seat option for the XR. I preferred not to muck about with lowered suspension.

Mr Fungames4323

At 67 the R is perfect although I am 180cm - 6ft.
20mm bar riser, you can get 26mm & a BMW OEM Touring screen.
Others have had a ride at about your height find my set up suitable.
I do a lot of long trips.

Good luck with your choice.

I fit your measurements and have 20+ years on you and the R fits me fine. An adjustable clutch lever and possibly another seat are all you need.

I'm just over 5'6" and I have no issues with my S1000R - as someone mentioned, the only issue I had on the bike was the clutch lever which was easily remedied with some Gilles levers.

I'm going to check out a factory lowered XR this weekend.  If I like it, it's coming home with me.  If not, there is an R really close to me I've been eyeballing.
