S1000R vs K1300R straight compare - which of them
on: January 19, 2021, 12:03:31 PM
First, sry for my poor english. Second, I know, It is brave ask to another bike on site about S1000R. But I am thinking about this question all month and I still know nothing.
I am 195cm tall (6ft 5inch) and I have fear, that S1000R is for my body and my using very small bike. But when I used web site moto ergonimics, I found that position of rider is same on both bikes (theoretic) and K1300 is only longer.
S1000R  For  - lighter, newer, more agile, clasic dumper (and maybe cheaper servis)
Against - less comfortable (i read and i think), small, no rack for side cases

K1300R - For - biger, more comfortable, possibility of side cases
Against - front shock absorbers (I glad  hard suspencion and feel the road), older.

I read lots of reviews, forums, saw maybe all YT videos about this bike. More of riders change S1000R from K1300R, some say, that S1000R is no comfortable, some say that is no problem.
The most problem is, that I have not any friend with these bike and I did not find near my house. I am not race rider, but i am not pure traveler too. Most of rides are short ride near home (on not realy good roads) and ones or twice of year trip about 2.000km per week. I ride alone, becose wife has own bike.

Is here some biker with experience with these bikes and the best is tall like normal man :008: (over 6ft 3 inch)?
I know, that is BMW S1000XR, but this is too expensive for me.

Thanks for any opiniom and advice.

6'-2" here and I can ride the S1000R all day long without any discomfort.

Given your height I'd say that with a combination of bar risers and adjustable rearsets you should be able to make the S1000R equally as comfortable for you.

Eta.
Have you looked at the R1200R / R1250R? I test rode an R1250R when it came out a year or so ago and was very impressed with it. It will also be a bit more accommodation for your height I should imagine.

Thank you very much. About posibillity adjust foot rests and another seat i know.
About R1200R - I am not pure BMW fan. I only filtered naked bike on my budget and S1000R win. K1300R is not clear sport naked, but is my old dream, or more precisely, maybe ten years ago, I saw it on motorcycle exhibition and I tought that is real bike for big man.
I love 4V engines, my last bike was KTM 990SM and I  couldn't get used to 2V engines.

I have the BMW Comfort seat on my bike. Reason I mention it is that it supposedly raises the seat height 1" which would help give you more leg room

I'm 6'5" and have no probs whatsoever with the ergo's of the S1KR, ridden it across Europe, Trackdays, weekend blasts etc etc.

The standard seat is only good for a couple of hours but there are different options to help with that. Currently I'm on BMW's race seat which gives you a little extra height too, but for anymore than a couple of hours riding I switch back to the standard seat plus have an Airhawk seat pad which is pretty decent once you figure out the right amount to pump it up.

I'd definitely consider some decent rear sets (I have the HP's), moved my feet back and knees down into a much more comfortable position.

BMW encourages test rides. Take one out for a spin. I would be surprised if you didnít buy one after a blast.
I knew this was the bike for me by the second stop light and after five years I still love this machine!

You should remember that itís peace of mind youíre after and not just a fixed machine.

Not sure what website your using but my friend has a K1300 and the bars are a lot lower set and its more of a stretch over the longer fuel tank, so your torso/upper half is more hunched over.

there is slighly more leg room thou, he has ridden my S1000R and finds it much easier to ride BUT his Mrs comes out on pillion a lot and the S1000R is of course no where near as accommodating for a pillion.

The K13 has a longer wheel base , is a lot heavier and nowhere near as sporty as the S1000R...no surprise really.

As said above, grab yourself a test ride on both(not so easy now the K13 is discontinued) and make you own decision.

Bottom line is, you cant test ride a bike on the internet and nor should you decide which is better for you from advice on the internet from a group of people you have never met....and may be slightly biased to one bike over the other!

Mr MMKS

I will type slow. :008:
At 6'5" I think you would lean forward on most bikes.
If touring is what you do the K1300R would be my choice.
