Looking at a used bike with 29000 Miles appears to have some pretty clanky top end noise cam chain possibly

What is the noise caused by sounds at times like a plastic fairing vibration and at times like gear lash when accelerating and decelerating

Hard to say for sure whether the bike you’re looking at is ‘normal’ or not unless you can post a video and ask for the collective opinion of the forum. The R does have a mechanical sounding engine and is known for a bit of cam chain noise. Plenty of info and discussion in past threads to check out too.

Check the cam chain tensioner cap on the right side up medium high. Black is the original installation, Silver is used after 15,000 K if there is appreciable chain noise. At 29,000 K There very well may be plenty of chain noise if it has not been changed out. As the man says be careful, plenty of bikes out there with few miles on them. And at the miles you say the price should seriously reflect "old age". Take a look at the owner, is he the type to flog it and have fun or an old putts like me  :005:
