Help buying my first S1000R
on: January 14, 2021, 02:47:01 AM
Hi guys I'm currently looking at buying a S1000r and someone has told me there are different models? As in you can get ones with the sports pack, which I would like. How will I know the difference? Is there something easy I can spot?

Thanks 😊

The simplest visual way to distinguish a non sport model vs a sport model is by the colour of the forks.

Sport will have gold coloured forks.
Non sport will have silver forks i think? Or they may be black?? They definitely will not be gold though.

To be honest, the non sport bikes are very rare, especially in the UK. I think something like 90% + of the bikes sold in the UK at least, were sports.

The sport model will also have these additional features.
2 additional Riding modes (4 in total - Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro) Note that Dynamic Pro can only be accessed if the red dongle is in place.
Cruise control.
Heated grips.
Electronic suspension.
And I believe that the quickshifter was a sport only addition too?

All the riding modes are also linked to the electronic suspension as well as the wheelie control and traction control.

So starting at rain mode you will have - Soft throttle response, maximum traction control, maximum ABS, maximum wheelie prevention, softest suspension settings.

Moving up to Dynamic Pro you will have the opposite of all those rain mode settings.

With each mode in between being incremental between those 2.

Does that make sense?

2019 Sport model in black with 2700 miles on the clock and BMW service history.

Tail tidy.

Slightly smaller rear plate.

Ventura rack.

Slightly larger screen.

Apart from that it's standard.

I still have the original bits.

Yes it does have Dynamic Pro enabled  :038:
