Agreed to check the battery first, much cheaper than a new ignition switch.

It could also be a damaged pole, that loses contact.
Test and clean it, perhaps see if you can swop it for a known good one just for a trial.
I got nothing.....

There could be an internal bar connector between plates that is cracked. I would invest in a new one. This is what I bought the other day. Fills the whole battery slot on my 17 (and older 15)
