No static sag at 85kg!
on: October 19, 2020, 07:01:25 PM
Hi - newbie here, and a forum rookie in general. If there's already a thread abouit this, apologies - pls point me in the right direction!

Issue:
I'm 85kg geared up.
I've set rider sag front and rear to within spec tolerances (8mm front, 22mm rear).
However, with this amount of preload, I get zero static sag in the back end.

Shouldn't there be 5-10mm static sag? I recall a Dave Moss set-up video ( where he says "can't pick the back up? = don't want to ride it."

Is the s1000r too highly sprung out of the factory? If I was 60kg I'd understand....but i'm the ideal rider as far as the manual's concerned!  :027:

Cheers

Just to clarify:

Sag with me on the bike is within tolerances as per manual.

But there's no 'free sag' when the bike alone rests on the suspension.

Took measurements with ignition on, in one-up mode with DDC set to soft (2015 s1k model)

Have a look at my recent post in the general chat section. I set mine up by the book and it was far too hard at the back. Took it to an expert and it's now set up really well. Worth the money if you're near an expert suspension place

Yep that sounds like a sensible idea - couple of good techs round my way. Glad to hear you’ve got yours sorted.
Cheers George  :028:
