Alittle background, Iím a new member, I own a 2017 S1000r with 16,000km. I bought the bike used and noticed some cam chain slap on start up, and some light ticking noise coming from the front right end of the bike. So I assumed itís cam chain related and brought the bike into bmw (still under warranty) to be serviced. Bmw installed the silver cam chain tensioner and also did the 20,000km service. When I started the bike, the chain slap from cam chain was gone, but when I rode the bike, there was a louder ticking noise present coming from the front end of the bike. Iím wondering if any of you could help clarify any new noises that came with the silver tensioner, or if thereís a bigger issue to look at. The ticking noise does increase with the increase in speed and is pretty dominant through my helmet (closed and open visor). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance and if I need to search in another thread please let me know.
Take care!

Is the ticking you hear the fuel injectors?  That's the only ticking my bike makes.

Same chatter here on my 17í.   I use a mechanical instead of the stocker and all is good for now.

Ok I think itís just a bad tensioner since prior to the install it did not happen. I ordered a manual one so hopefully this will cure it

Did your 20K service include valve clearance check/adjustment? If not this might be something to look into. Cam chain noise is really not a "ticking" sound.

Ya, it does not seem to be a normal or a nice sound. At highway speeds itís brutal, but Iíve parked the bike until I get some more info or ideas.

Sounds just like my 2017 did, IMO.
