Launch control BMW S1000R 2018
on: May 27, 2020, 09:36:31 PM
Hi!
So basically I wanted to try launch control and it seems to stay at 9000 RPM. 9000 effing RPM on this bike, jesus christ. Obviously I did not have the balls to try it, I mean how hard can I let the clutch go? If I have to release it slowly, then what is the point of launch control.

Here I am drag racing at a strip without launch control vs GSX-S, Tuono and Z1000. You can see which one I am, the s1000r winning of course.
:D

Anyone that can teach me how to use the LC?

I can make some videos afterwards. :)

Btw check my videos out in my channel:

Here is a nice wheelie done somewhere north of Stockholm, with a drone taking the photage.

Fab!  Must have taken some co-ordination to get all those bikes & owners together.

Good question the manual is not clear, drop the clutch or feather the clutch.  I am thinking drop, but do not want to find out the hard way, if I guessed wrong.

If you're going to drop the clutch using launch control be sure to have a video running, it'll be hilarious!!

I agree, an answer from someone who has done it would be great.  The manual and the one Youtube video I found are not clear.  I hope it is drop the clutch and let the electronics do their thing.  I have a few cars with launch control (Mclaren, Porsche) real simple, brake, rev, launch, hold on.

I think this video helps a bit despite being for the RR.  LC doesn't seem to work exactly the same on the RR (he says it works through the first two gears in the video but in the manual for the R it says that it works up to 60Km/h) but I think the important bit here is that he twice mentions "feathering" the clutch.  I'm pretty satisfied that you wouldn't just ping the clutch when using LC on our bikes.
