Red Dongle, why do I have it?
« on: March 23, 2020, 01:53:54 PM »
Hi all, I did search, but I guess I'm confused as to why I have a red dongle (in a pouch) when my 2018 already has Dynamic Pro?  Does the dongle give me any more features?  If not, what do I do with this thing?

Its supposed to be installed after dealer unrestricted your break in rpm limit.  Not certain it matters but I plugged mine in so that I dont lose it. Installs near the edge of the tank ,edge of seat front, right side as you sit on the bike.

check under your seat next to the ABS module on the 'clutch lever' side of the bike to see if you have the dongle already plugged in? if so, then you have a spare.

I was wondering about this too.  my 2019 has not had first service yet, but came with dongle plugged in.  I do have the rev limit restriction still

I can toggle through to the dynamic pro option on ride modes even though the dongle is not installed (that I can tell and there is one in my owner's manual bag).

I haven't tried its features since I really see no need but am curious if it is in fact activated. Is there an easy test (safe) to see if its activated when I select it in rider modes?

You can see if you hit red line in 1st it will be around 70-72 mph. Additionally, you can get on a loose surface like grass or dirt moving slowly with feet down and see if you can lock up the rear brake it Dyna Pro. It should not engage the ABS in Pro.

Just verified spot for dongle is on rear brake (right) side. :028:
