Do yourself a favour and buy a bluetooth OBDII dongle and the motoscan app. Grand total of about $60 CAD and I never needed to see the dealer again to reset oil life mileage or date.

If it's a 2017+ bike you just need an obd II bluetooth adapter, I use this one:

https://www.obdlink.com/lxbt/

Others may work, but I can tell you for a fact the OBDLink LX works perfectly.

If you have an earlier bike, you will need a BMW 10 pin to OBD-II adapter cable:

https://www.scantool-direct.co.uk/bmw-motorcycle-cable-10-pin-to-obd2-adapter.html

Lastly, you need an android device compatible with MotoScan off the google play store: (you will need to buy a license to reset the intervals, but you can try it for free to verify it works)

I bought the scanner and cable, connected it up and connected to the bike fine, when I tried to update the service date. I got the message saying reset not okay.

not sure if this could be a problem with the software or the odblink lx just won't allow me to right back to the bike.

Get help from the developer/author.by doing the following:

Plug everything in.
Start the MotoScan app.
Touch the 3 bars in the top left hand corner.
Touch "Support".
Touch  "Delete all saved log files".

Try your reset to the point of of the error message.

Go back to the initial screen.
Touch the 3 bars in the top left hand corner.
Touch  "Send Log".

This will send the trouble log to the developer who will reply to you by email in short order.

It worked for me. Turned out I needed to update my firmware.
