Possible 17 decat solution
« on: October 23, 2019, 10:23:20 PM »
I think I may have found a slightly cheaper way of decatting  the 17+ bikes. Was just wondering if anyone on here had already tried it? It does involve cutting the exhaust that's the only thing.

Then add a rapid bike easy fuelling module to sort the hunting etc out. I've already disconnected the flapper valve and fitted a servo buddy.  What's your thoughts?

Yeah I'm very slowly getting there. I've gathered the parts, got rid of the servo and the cables and fitted the servo eliminator since that was the easiest of the jobs. Pretty busy with work so not managed much more than that.  Next I'm going to run the cables for the fueling module. The cables look pretty sturdy and well put together with the right plugs on the ends so no modifications needed. Also the decat pipe is better quality than I expected.  Should hopefully get back to it this weekend.  I'll post any progress on here.

Right I managed to get a spare hour or so today. Fitted the fueling module.  Wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.  To keep it tidy, I ran the original cables back up out of sight under the tank and managed to get the new ones clipped in along the engine casing where the original ones used to be.  The module itself is sitting under the seat. Very snug fit but it's there. Slightly longer cables would have been better to get it under the pillion seat where there's more space. At the weekend I'll get the bellypan off and cut the exhaust.  Looking at doing it with a 1mm cutting disc on an angle grinder. Fingers crossed! !!!

It's alive!! Cutting the cat without taking the exhaust off was a nightmare, especially with how the sump drops between the 2 pipes. Then the deadening stuff in the cat was also stuffed into the pipes another couple of inches. That was hard to get out too. It appears to be bonded to the inside and very tightly packed. After a bit of blood sweat and tears, we got it all finished.  I'll post up pics tomorrow hopefully, had to run to work. Got a couple of very short videos just trying to see if I get flames

I have the db killer in for these. Without it sounds just too loud. The db killer takes the edge off it and makes it less ASBO.
