Unplugged unkown cable in tail/abs light on 2016 sport
« on: October 11, 2019, 05:09:26 PM »
Hi,

Yesterday i finaly received used k1r 16 sport in red from UK with 9k miles, it was a steal, but it has an unknown history on the other hand, bike rides fine and all good only problem is that ABS light is constantly ON (not blinking), anf TC light blinking all the time as soon as ignition is turned on (wirh engine off) and stays the same (abs on, tc blinking) also when moving.

Since is lid immediatelly i think it could be one of the sensor, will diagnose it when i get the equipment.

Anyhow, today looked a bit and found an empty connector in the tail under the seat - does anyone know what it supposed to be and where should it be connected to - if at all.

See picture attached.

Thanx and all the best

I think its the wiring for factory alarm, that sits in the tail

It's normally capped with a can bus terminator.  I doubt that's where your ABS and TC problems come from, though.  I'd look at the wheel sensors for the source of those issues.

Check to confirm the bike has the proper size tires.

Hi,

Thanks for all the input - looks like the plug is really from alarm DWA unit which was removed at some point out of the bike - no box under the passenger seat - i have an option to put it on or off in menu - will leave it on OFF and wont try what happens if put it in ON mode :D
And is as mentioned, in nocorelation with ABS/TC lights.

Tyre sizes are correct as should and will start with inspection of the wheel sensors and going from there on, but will wait for the diagnostic equipment to arrive first so will be able to read the "leads" :)

Must be something with missing signal as it's firm lid on without blinking the  same moment you turn the key to ignition.

Best regards and thanks!
Jure

Check the gap between the front sensor and the ABS ring, should be around 1 to 1.5mm. Guessing that is not the case here(too close to the ring?)

I doubt it this is the case, pretty much sure that it has something to do with missing signal from one of the sensors, as ABS/TC light should be both blinking from the moment you turn the ignition on and should turn off completely after moving....in my case ABS is lid up constantly (without a single blink) from the moment ignition is on and keeps on even after moving.

Will report what willl be the solution once i find it (but doubt anytime soon, it's end of season here and have plenty of time to play!

All the best!

I had this problem with the ABS  light too....

Found a small sliver of metal stuck to the magnet on the front wheel ABS sensor. As it's a magnet, it is understandable.

Wiped it off and all fixed immediately.

Hope you find the same..
