2016 S1000R headlight question (UK/EU headlight)
« on: September 30, 2019, 11:29:47 AM »
Hi all,

i am new here, fresh owner (of yet not even delivered) of used 2016 S1000R Sport from UK.

Since i am from Slovenia (europe), when importing at homologation a used vehicle from UK, it is mandatory to change headlights to EU version one - UK light beam is concentrated to the left side since EU light beam will light toward right side.

Is here anyone who can confirm or reject the claim that an S1000R has only one headlight version and is the same for EU or UK use....

For S1000RR model i can find two separate light codes, one for each market, but for S1000R model...i can find only one headlight code.

Also checked with local BMW dealer who can see the same...for RR two options (EU/UK), for R only one option - but stil, could not 100% confirm to me that only one version exists. So i had to check here where hopefully one will know :) So i can prepare everything when the bike comes i will have all the needed parts to be able to ride the bike asap.

Thanx a ton and br
Jure

Pretty certain that my low beam bulb just points straight forwards at the ground so not like a car where it is aimed left to avoid blinding on coming vehicles, I presume the full beam is the same but aimed further up the road.

The UK user manual for my new S1000R states that the headlight is "symmetric" (the beam is the same height all the way across) and does not require adjustment to ride in EU countries.

I have a UK s1000r here in the Netherlands and the headlight is just fine pointed down the road and high beam the same way only further up.
