nice looking machine. You can’t beat the classic Ducati red.

Thanks for the report, you are obviously liking it more than the R. My only note here would be that you aren't really comparing apples to apples, The R and MS are not in the same category(my personal opinion anyway). I have both the R and XR in the garage, and you're comparison and comments could apply directly to the XR(in place of the MS) comparing to the R.

I'm well aware they aren't competing bikes, but they are both bikes I have owned and I am on an S1000R forum so I didn't see the harm in comparing the two...
In my opinion, no most of my comments could not apply to the XR, outside of general comfort/wind protection. Electronically it's pretty much identical to the R, and IMO the panier mounting system on the XR is ugly AF. I will concede that an XR is likely faster than a multi, but I wanted to try something different and I'm glad I did.
I actually looked at a 2019 XR they had at the dealer when I went to test ride the multi, but financially it made zero sense (the XR was 22k CAD and the multi S touring was 15.3k CAD) and IMO the R and XR are more closely related than the XR is to a multistrada, due to the shared DNA.
I likely should have bought an XR back in 2017 when I bought the R, and saved myself some money in the long run but that's all should have, could haves.

Thanks again for your thoughts on the multi. Appreciated since I've been thinking of buying one but test rides around here are short affairs.

While I agree the looks are... polarizing, the S1000R isn't exactly a supermodel ;)
