S1000HpR & Intro
« on: August 06, 2019, 09:13:54 AM »
Been a lurker all this time...here's my intro/lets mod stuff post!

What I been riding (and still keep & love)

(i have taken off the racks and the rear hugger)
its all tricked out..Ktech suspensions, Ohlins damper, Pc5, Yoshi full system.
Runs like an inline4 with that famed mt09 low end torque

February this year, went to test ride an R9T. I was whinging the moment I sat on it..
from the peg placement to the vibeyness thru the bars..
Sat on this..and fell in love

Rainy day when I picked it up...the cold helped the seal in process

dealer threw in hp4 engine/lever guards, coupla bobbins and the windshield

I ended up adding on Knight Design footpegs, roxx risers, grip puppies..blah blah

comfy? yes. fun? sure thing!

the red s1kr started everything...

first track day came and went

yep, not the best BP

did i want to do more? that's the beauty/trouble of enabling friends. this forum doesn't help either naturally.

something looks different?

racefoxx made it easy with a 50% sale

the CAT is ugly of course

did the CF make me faster? of course (lol) :084: :007:

*much better BP after some coaching and training

something stirred inside me...a friend gave me a bit of a nudge
met a bunch of folks who are part of the BMW xox TKKR team
this happened...

cat was still an issue haha

custom pipes!

it's transforming...

bit by bit

-------------
I present to you guys, the S1000HpR  :150:

and a tribute to my friend Alex and his R1

Cheers!

Stuff done:
fairing stays and paint
HP4 upper clamp
meter stay
cable clutch
air duct
windshield
s1kR exhaust to cut (kept the original for warranty purposes)
custom Y pipe
stickers
R1 lights

to do:
tuning - very fuel rich at idle at the moment, hoping it levels out after ~100kms
considering an akra full system
some side mirrors would help
perhaps a different rearsets...I am sure the current one's messing up my quickshifter a bit.

Wow, what a build! Building is part of the joy but you take it to another level! Any reason why you didn't just buy a RR?

Can you tell me if that is the MRA Variable SPORT screen and if it made a difference in air flow and protection? Is it the clamp on or drill in type?

I just didn't like the Supersport riding position to start
plus the type of riding I was doing were daily bits and bobs and weekends canyon carving

then once the track bug bit...it was just a matter of time/enabling/peer pressure? :) :)
fortunately I got most of the mod done for a pretty good penny, once its tuned should be a track beast with low end torque
and decent straight line speed. best of both worlds now while costing a lot less than a RR?

yes it is the MRA touring screen: clamp style. easy to put together and to hook up onto the windsceen
u can chose to clamp or drill it.
i am pretty pleased with it, was using it on the tracer until I finally found that the madstad 2 piece..with a bit of 'engineering' works the best
and even then that extra height was plenty useful on highway cruises

on the s1k...i found it helpful, although took a bit to figure out best adjustment for optimal windflow just over the helmet
clamped down fine, the slight curve of the windscreen kept the extender stable
when i removed to clean there were no markings noticed
*for reference I am 5'10"

Do you remember if it was the MRA Touring or the Sport model? I thought for sure it was the sport model as the touring is close to double the size of the sport.
