Quickshifter stopped working mid ride
« on: April 13, 2019, 02:33:54 PM »
Good morning folks,

Yesterday my quickshifter completely failed in the middle of the ride. Strong resistance when attempting up or down quickshift. I did a search for this problem, and tried all of the likely solutions, so I resorted to making a post.

It's a 2017 with 16000km on it, stock levers, microswitches are not damaged and I did rotate the bracket to ensure the clutch sensor microswitch is closed. As a bonus, cruise control STILL WORKS, so i doubt it's the microswitches at all. All connections are solid, nothing has been unplugged or altered from factory in regards to switches or wiring.

I tried re learning it via the ten seconds per gear method, no dice.

I've currently got an appointment booked with the dealer for may 1st, unfortunately that will have me missing my very first track day.

I'm at my wits end here, no codes are being thrown and the bike seems normal, other than acting like the quickshifter doesn't exist.

When you say no faults are thrown, is that on the dash or using some sort of plug in tool(such as GS-911)?

Only other suggestion I have is to check the plug where QS plugs into the wiring loom, it should be just under the seat or behind a panel on the left side. just follow the wiring form the QS.

I'll follow the wiring today to.double check. When I say no codes I meant no warning lights on dash

Damn sorry to hear about your bike.  Mine has been acting up but more so the downshifter.  Upshifter is a dream so far.
Shes under warranty so Ill beat the piss out of it until it fails.  It has been getting progressively.

if you have a GS911 try resetting the adaptations.

Guessing he doesn't have a GS911, otherwise he could check the ECU error codes(or if there are any).

Pull in the clutch and let it out slowly.
You should hear two clicks from the micro switches.

First click is cruise control. Second/bottom switch is quick shifter.

mine did the same a while back, no dash or GS911 codes for that but my ABS light stayed on no matter how many times I toggled it. Got back home and could see nothing amiss. Set up a dealer visit that was 10 days out and next ride all was fine. Will never know....

My 2018 qs crapped out mid-ride just as you described, but then the next ign cycle it was fine. No idea what caused it and hasn't happened since. Bike had 500 miles, has about 800 now.
