Not to pile on the nanny wagon :) but one thing I always remember when riding is the most dangerous places on the road are intersections.

If you always approach an intersection with careful assessment of the possibility of cars turning in front of you or crossing your path from the left or right and plan accordingly you are well ahead of the game.

Also, remember the bike will go where you look (same as a car) so don't fixate on anything that you don't want to run into ;)

All S1000's can have a potential weakness with the cam shaft having failed it's hardening process.
It will have an odd ticking noise.

Happened on mine at around 8000km, make sure you have warranty.
This is a expensive bugger.
