New Bike - What do you think?
« on: March 03, 2019, 04:10:25 PM »
Got my 2019 bike yesterday and put some mods on. If anyone can recommend a provider for a new seat and clutch & brake levers it'd be appreciated.

Congratulations on the new bike! Looks great in black.

I like the bmw comfort seat though it will raise the seat height an inch or so due to thicker padding.

Wasn't sure--which wind screen is that? Is it good at higher speeds?

Nice bike. I made the same move in 2015. Never looked back. I'm on my second S1KR. I got the dealer to switch my Gilles FX Adjustable Span levers from my previous when I traded in. I really like them - short and adjustable. For a comfy seat I went for the Sargeant from the US. Toured to Provence last summer and I rode all day, every day (with some padded cycling shorts) with no problem. The stock one is like a board. Enjoy your new bike and take it easy at first - it's a beast  :001:

Windyrun;  I should probably give the BMW seat a try. I have read mixed reviews on here about the Seargent one.
Ref the wind screen, I got it from Biker HPS in the U.K.  So far it's been a great screen and seems to deflect pretty well.

Bikertim;  Thanks for the heads up about the Gilles, I'll have a look into those.  Also about the Sergeant seat too.  That's a fantastic picture btw, dream ride right there.

Everyone has different preferences, I preferred the OEM seat to the BMW comfort seat, personally.

And just to add another perspective, I hated the BMW Comfort seat, but love the Sargent.  :431:

FWIW, I'm buying a sargent next, but need to wait until the snow melts so I can take advantage of their 30 day money back guarantee if I don't like it ;)

Looks great all black. Congrats! I prefer the OEM seat compared to the comfort version. Read a lot of positive reviews on the Sargent. You'll find info (opinions) on all kinds of levers on the forum. Enjoy!
