Chain / sprocket upgrade
« on: February 01, 2019, 06:42:02 AM »
After all this time I still donít know how to search the forum.

Whatís a good chain to upgrade to?  Iím getting a decent amount of slap back and light rust after the winter.

Might as well ask about the sprocket, too.

Stock spec: 525 pitch 119 link chain. 17/45 tooth sprockets.  Driven Racing 520 conversion kit (lighter) uses RK chains. They are good chains. 16/47 tooth sprockets  I believe lowers your gearing. Similar to adding a 46 tooth rear sprocket to stock setup.

Ear plugs are probably a better bet for lower hearing  :038:

Check ebay. I installed these on my RR few months back  https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-S1000RR-525-OE-12-14-AFAM-JT-Chain-And-Sprocket-Kit/192635542444?hash=item2cd9f91bac:g:PUEAAOSwDehbftmg:rk:26:pf:0 Do a search, many options for better prices than online stores. These ship from UK.

Ive got a 17 with the forged wheels and had a hard time finding the right sprockets. ended up with Vortex 16 tooth front and 45 tooth aluminum rear with a RK ZXW chain. Great improvement over stock highly reccomended
