Got it. Thanks bud.

Your photo shows a second bike, a travel companion.
Have you felt during your journey that you would have preferred traveling along, e.g: to be able to absorb more and make your own memories?
Or was it amazing and you wouldn't change that part?

That was my best friend for the past 38 years, (he bought that bike specifically to do the trip and sold it immediately after), so no there was never a moment where I would have wanted to have been by myself.

(to be fair, we each rode about 1,200km solo to meet up in the middle before we went around the lake as a pair)

I am glad I asked. What a story!

Are you planning another trip some time in the future? Same or different bike?
How did you do with that riding posture all in all, was it uncomfortable?

I rode a couple 1,000km (600 mile) days on that R1, and other than a bit of back ache, it wasn't that bad TBH.

I was planning on doing another trip this summer with a different buddy, but my mom had some medical problems that caused us to cancel.  Will try again this summer.

The best thing I can say is don't ride further than you want each day, when you get tired or sore, stop.  Enjoy the ride.  Many people who do long rides punish themselves by doing a lot of miles each day, we rode 2x 600km (400 miles) days to meet up and then ended up doing maybe 300km (200 miles) each day we were together, if we found a bit of road we enjoyed, we turned around and did it again.

Hopefully you don't have to force yourself to meet a schedule on your trip, it's the best way to travel IMO.

That's good advice, thank you. I am going to take it easy and enjoy this.

Put up an Instagram account for this journey by the way: @s1000rpost

If it is below freezing (ice can lurk anywhere) wait it out. And change out your tires before they are done, don't try to stretch them for some of the return trip.

 :028: Thank you.

You know, I have been thinking of hosting an Instagram/ Reddit/ Forums Moto meet in Monument Valley (AZ or UT) as a photo OP during this trip.

I wonder if this would interest anyone.

And another package arrived.

The NoNoise Motorsport earplugs are amazing.
They still let you hear everything around you while reducing fatigue and potential harm over the long term.
Also got the cleaning it for the journey. Both from TwistedThrottle.
These are the earplugs and this is the cleaning kit.

The bulk of the remaining things are being delivered today, right on time as I take delivery of the bike too! Today is the day!!!  :046:
