Feedback request: Navigator VI worth it?
« on: January 14, 2019, 05:18:15 PM »
For those of you who have used the Navigator VI on a trip, is worth it?
Is routing on par with Google Maps/ Waze or even Apple Maps at least?

How are the UX and UI, any lag, redraw sluggishness when redrawing (zoom in/ out)?
Is the unit compatible with the GARMIN TMPS?

Your phone is much better. I don't know why people still use standalone units unless you plan to take yours to remote places in africa, alaska, etc.

Here is what I found so far

Pros:
- Secured properly with OEM mount with dampers and nicely positioned. The vibrations are very bad for the camera modules on cellphones and sometimes causes them to fail.

- Hardwired. Clean install with no dangling wires

- Preserves the cellphone battery which can conserved

- The screen is more legible in direct sunlight

- Dedicated buttons and the screen is better suited for usage with gloves on

Cons:

- Old Garmin UI with an underpowered processor/ UX

- Super expensive proposition when factoring in the unit, cradle and mount. Would rather spend the same money on an AGV Pista

- anything else...?
