Tank Bags, any ones to look out for or avoid?
« on: December 03, 2018, 12:54:07 PM »
I'm in the market for a tank bag. Ideally not a big one, just to fit phone/wallet/keys and random small items in. I'd like one where I can see my phone screen. No idea on what fitment to go for or avoid. I'd appreciate your advice before I go get one.

I've had a wunderlich tank bag on for close to 40k miles, never comes off it is perfect for what you want.

On second read of your post, won't be able to see your phone but otherwise perfect.

The Givi tank lock system gets my vote, sits well clear of the tank, works brilliantly and with a real neat design internally and externally, the price is a little keener, plus you have opportunity to use the bag on another bike when the time comes to sell the bike on.

that said, if a good deal came up on the forum for either bag(as is often the case) id have no hesitation in taking either...

The Givi 15l on a tank ring works really well, big enough for most stuff

Are you dead set on having your phone viewable from the bag? I have my phone mounted to the handle bars using a quad lock and wunderlich sport tank bag. Perfect combo.  :001:

you're better off having the not mounted in the bag. with the sun shining through the window and lack of airflow, your phone can overheat rendering it useless until it cools off. this can also cause long term damage

I don't use a tank bag and prefer my Kriega backpacks, and RamMount X-grip. I've done over 20,000 miles with this combo and tested up to 140mph. Kriega backpacks are incredibly comfortable even fully loaded with weight.
