I did actually charge the battery before starting the bike, but I charged it while it was connected to the bike, does that matter?

I'm all for paying more money for better quality things, but not a fan of overpriced things. I doubt the oem battery would be over 3 times better than the battery I bought.

I wouldn't charge a battery with a normal battery charger whilst it is still connected to the bike. The smart trickle chargers can detect and protect if there's a problem.
