^ You are a brave man :)

I know myself better than to test one--I like the Red so maybe I can negotiate on price :)

Also I really think I need a v4 next . If only there was a dealer nearby

I think I'm going to wait and see if Ducati builds a new Multistrada V4 (seems inevitable, imo) because while I really want that engine in my life, I can't live with superbike ergos anymore.

The multi is starting to look interesting to me also however I have a feeling it could be a very long wait for the V4 to make its way in there. They just bumped the twin to a 1260 and the V4 seems well suited to their sport bike range.

I don't think I have ever seen BMW offer end of year sale incentives on the R and XR so I would bet that their sales have always met projections, meaning that both models have been profitable.  I can't imagine they would let a profitable model fall to the wayside because they didn't update it.  I expect it will take 1.5 to 2 years for BMW to work the kinks out of the new RR engine (with first year buyers being the beta testers lol) and modify it for R and XR duty.
