Battlax Hypersport S22
« on: November 13, 2018, 08:43:40 PM »
It seems like many 2019 bikes will be using the Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22, replacing the S21, which itself replaces the S20 Evo (which came on my '17 S1000R).

Will it be available in the USA in January 2019 as indicated in here?

Previous Rs came with Diablo Rossos which are more $$ and better than BT. I guess cost cutting ....

I had Pirrelli's on my R1 and hated them, will never ride on Diablo's again.

I much preferred the OEM fitment bridgestones on the S1000R, and while I didn't go for the same tires when I replaced them this season, I did stick with Bridgestone (went with the T31's, so far they do what it says on the tin)

A Bridgestone representative confirmed the availability in January 2019 in the USA.

I put S22's on ~ 100 miles ago, big improvement over the S20's.  Much more confidence inspiring, great grip and heat up fast.  Too soon to tell how well they wear, although you can definitely tell where the harder compound starts (middle) and softer compound begins.  Got ~ 3K miles out of the S20's expect about the same for the S22's.

As a price reference, paid ~ $370 tax + mounting (I brought the wheels to the tire shop)

FAnyone here knows the optimal hot pressures and optimal temperature for these tyres?

I'm running 32.5F 33.5R and they're fine but a bit sluggish. Planning to try to up them to 33F 35R next ride out to see if there is any difference.

I order my tires from rockymountainatv.com they usually have the best price or very close. S22 are currently
$246 for the pair with free shipping and the the rebate brings it down to $186 for the pair. I would say time to stock up!

With S21s I usually run 33/36 and assume the S22s will do the same.

YOWZERS! This is notably cheaper than where I was just looking. Thanks for the suggestion. Picking up some now.
