Lift the tank, take out the side panels and seats and blow out all the water and moisture using a leaf blower and compressed air and let it sit in the sun.

The electrical connector to the grip throttle is just under the bar. Un latch it, spray with contact cleaner and re insert until it snaps.

With respect, I would not recommend using compressed air, as you will likely blow water further into connectors and places it shouldn't be.

A salesman at my local BMW dealer told me he used a compressor to dry his 800gs which apparently blew air under the seat and fouled either the battery or ecu or something that caused the bike to not function correctly. He told me BMW rejected his warranty claim due to his use of the air compressor to blow dry his bike. This is from a salesman at local BMW dealer.

So it does look like the rain and me getting soaked was just coincidental - the limp mode was activated by the throttle sensor failing.

Picking it back up tomorrow from the dealers, having it's 12,00 mile service at the same time.

I'm a bit glad to hear that.  My bike has been soaked in incredible torrential rains on many occasions (after all, I do live in Southern California) and I've never experienced anything like what happened to you.

Curious how the bike acted in limp mode? Just so I know for future reference, wouldnt rev out or limited your speed, bad throttle response.

Thanks and glad to hear its fixed!
