I started looking at the MotoScan App more closely and found a function called "Send Logs" so I tapped it. Overnight, I got an email from the owner of MotoScan that read as follows:

Hello,
Your LX has a old firmware version. Connect the LX to any car (not
bike!) and update the firmware using the OBDLink App. Then it will works
also with bikes.
Best Regards

Awesome service. I will try it and report back.

I actually just started a thread concerning functionality of the Motoscan app so i think i should delete it :008: But I HAVE use a cheap OBD scanner on my S1K and it was not successfull in resetting the service date. You need an adapter that is ELM300 capable I believe to do that. I has to have the ability to code out a long string message, hence why your's didnt work because of the 8byte limitation.

Waldorf, did you buy an OBD to BMW conversion cable? Some of those route the CANBUS wires from your S1K to the K and L lines in the OBD which is not the correct pins on the OBD scanner to read our bikes. You can jerry rig some wires to connect the pins yourself and see if that works.

Can my old Inova OBDII scanner work on my S100R if I buy the conversion cable?  My service light came on this week and I need to do some work anyway.  Also, I don't see a Motoscan app for an iPhone, only for Android.  What to do here?

Well you're going to need the cable one way or the other (unless you're planning on buying a GS911), so you may as well buy it and then report back if it works?

Ok, cable is arriving tomorrow and I will test and report back.

Still need to figure out how to get MotoScan on my iPhone.  My old beater Android phone just gets hung up when trying to download the app from GooglePlay.  If anyone knows how/where to get it for an iPhone, please chime in.

Ok, I got MotoScan installed on my old beater Android phone.  Got the conversion cable today and tried my Innova scanner.  It connected to the bike and started to read, even showed the motorcycle icon on the screen.  But then it gets an error before it shows any codes.  I'll keep researching before I grab the bluetooth connector to use with the MotoScan app.

Check to see if there are any firmware updates for your OBD device.

where might I find such a cable that wouldn't need to be rigged up?  Dealer forgot to reset the service light and I'm not wanting to go back just for that.  I already have a bluetooth obd scanner I use in my truck that I would like to try
