Test riding a 1290R Superduke tomorrow
« on: October 24, 2018, 09:36:59 AM »
Morning all,

I'm considering a move from my s1000r and test riding a Superduke tomorrow.

Anyone made the switch before or test ridden the latter? I'm quite looking forward to the power for sure but not sure it's as good looking as the S1K.

I've been on this site for nearly 4 years, and I've seen quite a few guys go to and come from 1290R, I was very interested in the KTM myself when it was first announced but never road one, yet....

Have you ridden a V Twin before.  They are very different to riding a triple or an in line four.  I personally don't like twins but others love them, personal choice, so other peoples opinions won't necessarily be of much help.  Test ride it and you will either like it or you won't.

I had a Ducati 848 Street Fighter for 18 months and did love it. Always thought it lacked a bit of top end and a pig round town but on the open road, it was brilliant.

The BMW is a very easy relaxed ride in traffic with light controls, not sure what the Superduke will be like but twins can be a bit lumpy.  Let us know how you get on.  I have just switched from a ZX10R to the BMW and I find it a bit mild in the bottom end in comparison, I am sure that won't be a problem on a 1300cc V Twin which should be really punchy from tick over

Test rode a gen.1,loved every minute of it.You will soon get use to it.A bit pricey though if you want everything unlocking(quickshifter etc.)

I've seen a gen 2 17 plate with full sport pack for 10,600. There seems to be some good deals about but trading in prices on my s1k are shameful.

That looks like a good price. How many miles has it done?
I know what you mean regarding trade in prices, the best price you will get if you trade in for another BM.

KTM and Aprilia resale is lousy. I can get a better used deal on them than on any BMW. KTM has the worst reliability among these. Test rode both the tuono and superduke. Loved the V twin grunt but not a fan of the low end vibes. Eventually I might end up getting a 2017+ 1100 tuono over the duke. Still performance wise S1000R is hard to beat by either of those bikes. I want the tuono mostly for the sound and refined classy looks!
