Hello from cheshire
« on: October 12, 2018, 09:24:11 AM »
Always been a honda man. Selection of blades, vfr 800 and cbr 600. Live in Cheshire so spend my time riding around Wales, Peak District and Shropshire. Usually have trip away once or twice a year to scotland or Yorkshire.
About to dip my toe into Germany for the first time. Possibly a new one but have seen a 17 reg sport in the motorsport colours. Couple of questions its fitted with the smaller and more cylindrical akra silencer. Getting mixed messages from the dealers if this invalidates the warranty. Some say its ok some so not with it being the eu4 engine and others are sitting on the fence stating if the cat remains its ok.
Also on the video of the bike the salesman mentions it has the slick chip fitted and so dynamic pro mode is available.
Should this raise alarms that this bike has been tracked. Or is it normal for a lot of S1000r to have the chip activated? From the pictures and vid it looks in mint condition
Thanks for any replies
Nigel

Its only the slip on pipe thats been changed, I wouldnt worry about that, is the bike from a BMW dealer?  The only opinion that matters is the supplying dealer...

The chip they will be referring to comes with the bike and is installed after running in, doesnt indicate track use, you'd be hard pressed to find a bike that doesnt have it fitted...

Apart from that you will appreciate the comfort, handling and brakes over the Honda's you mention, let alone the performance..

Ok thanks for the reply.
Yes its from a BMW dealer.
They where a little vague around the warranty. Stating if there was a problem with the suspension it would be ok. But wouldnt commit if there was any problems with the engine if it would be covered by the 2 year warranty.

Cheeky b'stds...If its being sold as a BMW approved bike it should be honoured...or they should fit a stock can to it perhaps...
