Resale value of naked bikes in the US is not that great compared to europe. I have a 16 premium w/ 16,000 miles on it (am a BMW Employee) looked to trade it in for an RR and the trade in value from all the dealers by me are around $5000.00 because most used R's sit for a while because not one really is looking for them/knows about them. They actually have 2 16's mint with 3,500 miles on it and they are asking for $7500.00 and they have just been sitting for almost a year now.

I did not see those bikes available when I was searching a couple weeks ago. They still available?

Glad I'm happy with mine since I wouldn't want to take a hit like that  :005:

I wonder what has happened to the resale value of RRs now that the new one is coming out soon with all new tech etc.

I am fortunate, no need to don't worry about resale when I buy (for you Brits, I bought a 12C Spider, 650s Spider and have 720s on order so you know what I am saying, i.e. depreciation), it's about getting what I want and not making an investment.  Will probably give the S1KR to the son in law next year as a birthday gift and replace it with a RR.  That said, not always the case for me, so I appreciate what others are going through to sell their bikes to keep values high.

Good Luck,

MB

Check with Cross Country BMW. They had 2 of them last time I was there.

As far as the RR's go. They hold their value better, even if you look at the original ones they are still up there compared to an R with 5k+ miles on it. However I do know they will bumping up the incentives to clear inventory on RR's since the new ones will be available in the spring. IDK if you saw the patent pics of the new RR but im not a fan.

Lots of people hated the asymmetrical look of the current RR when it first came out, if it ticks all the right boxes which i have no doubt it will looks won't matter! I agree though wasn't the nicest of looking bikes but personally i still find the headlight unit on the R a bit hard to love, fortunately none of that matters when you're on the bike!  :305: :305:

If any of the possibles are true with the new RR the incentives will have to be monumental. The RR is a $20K bike...one bought now will be worth at most half that I predict when the new one comes out-retail. Time will tell but I wouldn't touch a new RR now unless I just wanted to through away money which sane people don't do even if they have lots.

Yeah dealt with them before I bought mine. Was trying to buy a forum member's custom painted blue/white bike they had with some nice mods. Still a good deal at 9k for a 15 with 15k miles Shipping and taxes were a bitch coming out to 10.5k. For mine I paid $8k incl taxes and pickup gas money and with a ton of mods.
