Accessory display to see telemetry?
on: September 23, 2020, 11:49:25 PM
Hi All.

A little while back I found a site that was selling an accessory display that would show all sorts of bike telemetry - Lean angle, temperatures, wheel speed, rpm, etc. It was made specifically for BMW motorcycles.
However, now I cant find that site again, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with a device or had seen this thing at all? I know this is a kind of terrible description, but hoping to get info!

Thanks!

What exactly do you want / need to see?

What do you intend to do with the data once you have it?

For reference the calimoto app will show your max speed, max lean angle, acceleration trace etc ... for each ride.
Obviously you can't do anything with that data, but if you're just wanting to see it for curiosity sake then it fits the bill perfectly.

Found the original site I was looking for!

https://blackboxembedded.com/ - The WonderLINQ

However, now I understand that it needs the WonderWheel from BMW which is used to control a Nav system. So may or may not be able to.

Anyone know anything about fitting a wonderwheel / BMW Nav system to an S1000R aftermarket rather than a factory option?

I don't know if you noticed this, but if you read the details of this product, it appears that the information it displays about lean angle and acceleration is coming from the sensors in your smart phone and not from the bike at all.

The R bike does not generate all this data like an RR or a RXXXXGS. Maybe the newer ones do? This data shows up on the NAV GPS units like you describe. I bought a Nav 5 unit for my 2015 s1000r bike and was disappointed that the data you mentioned did not show up. There was limited info. The newer bikes are showing more data. Just seems to depend on the model and year. Like you, there is a lot of information that would be fun to access on the fly and I wish I could see it.
