Tax disc
« on: May 13, 2018, 11:19:17 PM »
Has anyone a good suggestion on where to mount a tax disc on the S1000R????
I've explored the whole bike and still haven't seen anywhere suitable.

On previous bikes, I used to fix a tax disc holder under the pillion footrest bracket using the rearmost of the two attachment bolts. Might work for you if your tax discs are similar to the round paper ones we had before the DVLA went electronic.

I have mine on the exhaust mount.
Might not look nice on a '17-on model, though
I got nothing.....

@SimonS1KR Cheers, ya ours are the same as those ones.
I'll have a look and see if it will fit there.

@Enzio I looked for a spot around that area but nothing would do.
I have an Aprilia RSV1000R and that's where I have the tax disc on that.
Plenty of room on the Aprilia but the Beemer if fairly tight.
Cheers anyway.

I used to attach mine to the back of the registration plate, in a glass tube. You need to use some loctite on the screws to be safe. Technically it wasn't legal in the UK, but as I had a fully legal large reg plate no-one either noticed or cared!

Cheers mate, I put a evotech tail tidy on it and stuck a small plate on it with strong double sided tape.
We get away with small plates over here, officially illegal but the boys in blue don't seem to mind too much.
I go out with a few of them and their plates are just as small as mine.
Anyway, the problem I have is there's no holes in the plate to bolt the tax disc holder to it.
I was just out at the bike again looking for a place and I think I'm just going to have to put it under the seat and produce it when I'm asked for it.

That would be perfect! I'll check and see if the 2017 exhaust set up is the same as yours.

That's exactly where mine is as well, but the '17-on bikes don't have that mounting point.
I got nothing.....
