Thought I'd post a quick update, that leak on the little grommet at the base of the water pump is not normal and the whole pump has to be replaced. PUMA lodged, bike off the road until parts arrive, Cheers.

Just discovered I've got a small coolant leak as well, will investigate further where it's coming from and report back...

And here I thought I was lucky with all the problems other owners were having....

I had my pump replaced a month ago. Was a year out of warranty, but as Id reported it numerous times when it was covered, they (dealer and bmw) did it for no charge to myself. The new pump housing looks like a cheap knock-off though!

I've got an appointment to have my water pump checked Friday, seems to be coming from that same weep hole on the bottom of the housing.  Will report back with their take on it.

I discovered this on mine - goes in on Tuesday, most likely for a new pump.

Hi - I know this on the right side of the engine but where is this spot ? Is it under the fairing or is it at the lower point of the motor - had coolant stains on mine after a ride last week - cheers

First post in that thread shows a pretty good image of where it is located, but it is on the right hand side under the water pump.

Thanks for that -  mines blowing coolant - not much but appears to be coming from the cap/overflow (pump housing is dry) - coolant is on front side of engine casings and also dribbling through the fairing - will check previous posts - so with slightly weepy forks, rattly cam chain (its normal sir) and coolant I have the holy trinity - 1k miles after last dealer service (bike has 9k on now).

check that the expansion tank cap is seated correctly. it is quite easy to dislodge and because it is behind panels you will not see it.

I am just over 15k km and mine was leaking from the same spot, coolant down the rad, fairing and a small pool under the bike. Dealer said the pump had failed and will be replaced under warranty. Also having the updated cam chain tensioner installed, hopefully that fixes the startup rattle.

Cheers Simon - yes - I did check that - it was solid - undid it and re-tightened but it seemed to be well fastened. It may be that the cap isn't sealing properly - I don't seem to be losing a lot of coolant. Will be keeping an eye on it and reporting it along with the camchain (again) which now rattles on start up and is noisier on overrun (although no loose 'lashing' sounds). Bike runs fine though.
