Thanks for the replies

I am in the 'less is more' camp also....

However I do not like the cheap OEM decals on the seat unit.....what were BMW thinking ??  :232:
So I might only replace these two

I have CP F800R since new ( amongst Others) and the paintwork is much better on that compared to the S1000R

Wait, your seat has decals on it?

Am I missing something?

what is a "seat unit", if it's not the seat?  The rear tail section?

I'm being completely serious here, I've no idea what part of the bike you're talking about.

Sorry if I'm coming across as sounding like I'm trolling.

Hi Zombie,
perhaps its an intercontinental thing.... :190:

I've been working on bikes for many years, and it has always been known as a seat unit here in the uk

Just type "motorcycle seat unit" into google or flea bay

or check here

Hello sashaa

Unfortunately the weather here in the UK has been consistently poor for some time now (today: 2.6C and squally snow showers) and as such, there has not been conducive conditions allowing the decals to be correctly fitted as per manufacturers instructions.

I have stripped, cleaned and am rebuilding the two front brake calipers on one of my other bikes and noticed that the quantity of condensation that had formed on the metallic cold surfaces within the garage yesterday was considerable due to high humidity as a consequence of the heavy rain really frustrating.

There was however a bright but cold day some weeks ago but after <10 minutes in the garage, the gel graphics had changed from being malleable to a state of being stiff and difficult to apply correctly.  Whilst the likes of a hair dryer would reverse this physical state for the 3D gel graphics, it would have minimal effect on most of the surfaces of the bike due to their significant relative masses; both surfaces need to be at suitable temperatures.

In summary, if conditions dont improve here over the next few weeks or so, then things will have to wait until early April (after Daytona Bike Week/3 weeks in Florida) but I live in hope!

Take it easy.

Regards

S J B

Thanks for your reply :)

I am not sure to get them or not, so seeing them fitted would help me to make that decission.

Enjoy your time in garage.

Sasha
