Heat is what comes out of a the side of a VFR in an Aussie summer. They can cook roast dinners.

The heat is coming from the big silver thing that is located right below the engine, the cat needs a lot of heat for it to operate correctly, I bet the guys that have removed the cat have noticed a reduction in heat output !

Asbestos pants may be the cure...
Most of my life, I drank whiskey, rode bikes, and chased women..........the rest of it I just wasted.

You should sit on Panigale 1199 and wait on traffic light for more then 30sec...then i will ask you what you think about S1R heat dissipation...Most likely you will think that you are sitting on air-condition when compare with heat that Panigale produce.

Ducati has had plenty of practice to produce that heat with their water cooled V's.  My old 848 was pretty good. Didn't make heat like the S1000R but the 999 I had was a whole other thing. Used to have to ride down the road with legs splayed open just to cool off. Must have been a fairing thing as you don't feel that same heat on a 1098 Streetfighter.
No modification goes unpunished. ---- Good people drink good beer. ----  It's all up to your skill level, your thrill level and your will level. Everything else is just fluff. ---- Memento mori.

It's about time we ressurect this topic, wondering if any of u guys found a solution to the infernal heat that comes from the frame? Or wherever it comes from...yesterday  my red beauty gave me a bit of a scare, when i took off my pants (at home:))after a 450km ride with the last part in full traffic, i had an almost 2nd degree burn on my LEFT leg. I addmit i had some crappy girlish pants made of hell knows what leather immitation material over which i wore knee protectors, but it's like nothing i've had before from my previous bikes... i got i had to say goodbye to shorts while riding even in the summer, but this is quite unbearable, on hot days do we need to borrow pants from firefighters?

I find I get a bit of heat near the pegs on the left hand side of my '17, but nothing near what you've described.

My 07 R1 had wayyyy more heat (undertail exhaust, of course), but even that didn't approach what you've mentioned.

Rent/Buy one of those cheap thermal imaging cameras and see what's going on, would be my advice :)

Resurrection part 2 pleeeease?!?

We had 21 degrees here yesterday in England so obviously everyone was out. I rode for about 3 hours in total as my friend got his license yesterday and was keen to get some riding in. It was a very gentle ride with lots of stops. About an hour and a half in I had to sit legs properly akimbo as the left frame (and right, but more so left) got so hot.

Has anyone found a solution other than not riding touching it? Is there anything I can put onto the frame maybe?

Omg i was just about to rise the same problem again. I gave my mechanic the ultimate task to find a solution to the infernal heat issue, it fried my left leg again last weekend and its not even summer yet. He said hell try to put a cover on the cat, then we thought it might be also from the fan...and a bit from the frame...and i think ill just ride with one leg on the handlebar...cuz its freakindriving me insane.
So keep the topic up and lets find a solution(different from WW2 final solution for fried skin and KFC)
