Well done matey - hopefully cosmetic - not sure about steering locks on these if someone yanks them.

At least they couldn't ride without a tow and knacker the motor - well done in rescuing at least one

Is the S1R (older models) a theft target in the US?  I would expect a double R to be but the 1R in say a big city?

Just read this morning motorcycle theft is up 50% in the Midlands.

Looks like the b'stards are heading North.

Kudos to edison for helping out  :047:

Had mine stolen in Kensington 2 months ago thankfully it was recovered a couple of miles away in Fulham. however the steering lock was snapped and the seats ripped off,I presume they were looking for the tracker.
I just picked the bike up from the dealer after the repair, because the lock had been snapped it needed a new frame!!!
5500 later a have my bike back, ride safe my friends

Thanks guys. I lost a brand new S1000r last year so I know how bad it feels like...Glad my insurance paid off on that but I will still facing insurance premium every year now.

What's the cut off before the bike is a write off?
A certain percentage of the bikes value maybe.

70% was the figure quoted to me, the "only" visible damage was the steering lock and seats. They didn't even start the bike, just cut off the chain and disc locks and Pushed it a couple of miles down the road with the aid a scooter. their MO is dump it there, wait and see if its tracked then come back to it to move to on. the give away was the rear offside foot peg was down!!
