Does anyone here use a lithium battery?
on: June 20, 2020, 03:56:59 PM
I had one on my last bike and as I recall it had a built-in balancer, which meant I could use my regular Optimate charger on the umbilical.

Can somebody recommend a good lithium with the same for my 2014? TIA.  :002:

Yes, I took my lithium battery from my Husky 610 Supermoto, and have been using it in my S1000R for the last 4 years or so. That lithium battery was in the Husky for around a year, and then it sat in the Husky for another year or so, and then I installed it in the S1000R and it fired right up. I have had zero issues with the lithium battery. I bought it from MOTY. I am not sure they are still around though.

I'm using this one in mine. They have such a slow discharge that you don't need a maintenance charger on it. In fact lithium likes to not be kept at 100% charge. If you ride every 4-5 months there will be no issues. That being said that are made to take a charge from the bikes system where there is no balancer.

Cheers dude. Unfortunately I can't find anywhere in the UK selling that one.

I've run various lithium batteries in various bikes (2007 R1, 2010 VFR1200F, 2017 S1000R, 2016 Multistrada 1200) and other than my first battery going out of balance due to not having the proper maintenance charger (most require one, a few don't because they have a self-contained battery management system, but it's something most people don't tell you about) they're fine.

What a lol, I put the new battery in and discovered the one in it was exactly the same. I think I must have killed it by leaving it hooked to the trickle-charger, not supposed to be done according to the blurb.

I have one in my KTM 300, took it out the other day and the weight is hard to believe.  Feels like an empty plastic box.  Amazing
