Had my S1000R M since November and think I've just traded that in and bought a M1000R Competition  :005: !!! Had ridden the non comp version that was restricted to 9krpm as was being run in - did like it but always would want the comp due to colour and carbon goodies. Seemed like a good deal on a nearly 4 month old one, so deposit down - will see how good it looks in the cold light of day!

I purchased mine in May, but between working away and it being in the workshop for a fork fault, I've hardly ridden it.
The fork problem is one where it initially sounds and feels like the headstock is loose. I noticed this on the day I rode it home and took it back the next day, but the dealer said it was Ok.
After completeing the run-in period, I took it back for the service and complained and they agreed there was a fault that BMW recognised. I got it back it few weeks later wilth new internals. However, the fork doesn't make the sound it did before which could be recreated at a standstill with the front brake on. It doesn't do that now, but still makes a sort of a "tappng on plastic" noise which I can't detect after more than 5MPH. I tried to get a ride on their demo machine but my poor licence won't let me.
I need to finds someone else with the same machine and take that for a ride to do a direct comparison.
I kept my old S1000R BTW, as no one wanted to buy it after four months of advertising earlier this year.
What I'm trying to say is that if you want it, get it. I re-mortgaged to get mine. I needed it in my life. Not had a chance to exploit it yet, though. It certainly attracts attention, though.

Nice one H-B, agreed 💯 if you want it get it, and at the price they offered me it's a steal! Was a Sunday afternoon handshake over email with the dealer and deposit paid but they've ghosted me so far this week - something tells me sales manager didn't pass on to the sales exec, but am sure it will progress. Hoping they can put my private plate on too!

Thanks for heads up about fork noise, will listen out - seen it reported on few posts. Dealers are reluctant to do warranty work unless they have to (lower hourly rate), but persistence often pays off.

Will be trading in the S1000R M - but keeping my 2007 fire blade to buzz about on :)

P.s. looks like the Ti pipes on yours - seems an expensive upgrade but have better finish than the Ford Escort grade steel they've used on the standard headers!! Was thinking of disabling the exhaust flap or putting on black widow headers and ECU mapping, but might just get used to the bike first!

Indeed, mine does have the Ti header option. When I decided to commit to purchase, the dealer informed me that they had a cancelled order with the spec I had chosen on the BMW bike builder website. Couldn't refuse, really. It does look a whole lot better and hasn't stained at all yet in the first 1200 miles.
Forget to mention that the bike feels a lot lighter than my old S. Feels like a push bike after moving it around the garden compared to the S. Tighter turning circle, too.

Picking the M1000R up tomorrow - wallet is a lot lighter like the bike!! Should be nice weather so looking forward to ride back. Already got some BMW 50th anniversary badges for it, not much else to bling up!!

Picked bike up and totally agree, just feels lighter and invites you to tip it over in to corners!! Really enjoying it and catches people's eye for sure - so glad I got the competition, just couldn't see why I'd change the S1000R M for the standard M1000R, too similar and just didn't like changes (black subframe, black front mudguard and black forks - on a white bike, matter of taste I guess!)

Trouble now is, after two weeks of owning new bike I've snapped my bicep tendon :005:! Had surgery today but might mean a big lay off the bike :(. For me let's hope summer is shitty and get an Indian summer in October/November!!
