    M1000R front suspension sensor

    I have recently taken ownership of the new M1000R and the owners manual states that in order to use the compression and rebound function of the front fork, a suspension sensor is required.
    However, the info about this is vague and only constitutes about one small paragraph.
    I have contacted Alpha Racing, who seen to be the only suppliers in the world of such an item, and they responded by telling me they are not sure if the M1000R has the loom connection required for the device. Or if they have suitable mounting hardware.
    Seems strange BMW mention it in the manual, but give no hint as to where to acquire such an item.
    Can anyone enlighten me on this matter?

    This has been something of a mystery to me for nine years now. I asked Alpha about the front sensor for my first-gen R, and they said, "Yeah, it'll work, and make your DDC perform even better". I asked how do I mount it, and they said, "Dunno. Give it a try and let us know how it goes." Will it connect up tot he bike's harness? I asked. "Yeah, it should," was the answer.

    Filled with a lack of confidence, I never took the $800 plunge.

     :020:
    Why don't BMW just bloody make and sell their own suspension sensor.
    They must be aware of it because the bike has the software built in to accommodate the device along with the wiring loom to add it to.
    I should be able to walk into a BMW dealership and say sell me a suspension sensor (according to the manual}

    A few weeks ago, I happen to pass by the workshop of Crowe Performance in Lincolnshire (UK), who had been mentioned in these forums. They specialise in BMWs and had quite a few track bikes in the workshop. Luckily, as I walked in, there was another BMW M1000R Competition standing in the workshop having just had a full system exhaust fitted and about to go on the dyno.
    I spoke to Phil about the front sensor and he can get them alright as there happened to also be one or two RRs in the workshop fitted with the very same item I'm after. Confidence inspiring or what? He said he can get me one and fit it if I get my bike up to him.
    I will continue this thread once things have happened.

    I'd be interested to hear the results.
