Suspension switch left handle bar switchgear

Hello. I don’t know if this is the right section. But here goes. I have a 2016 s1000r and it doesn’t have the shock absorber symbol on the left handlebar switch gear. It’s just blank. I obviously have the electronic suspension ie road dynamic etc. would just like to No if I bought the left switchgear with suspension switch on it. Is it already programmed into the bike or is it a firmware update. Thanks for any help.

Is it obvious you have Electronic Suspension?? I would assume you would have the correct switch if that was the case. Tell-tale signs are gold coloured forks and there should be a wire coming out of the top of the left hand(clutch) fork.

Yes that is correct. I have the wire and gold forks. That’s why I can’t understand it.

given that, the only explanation that I can come up with is a prior owner replaced the left switch with the wrong unit. 

There are sites out there that will tell you the 'build' if you enter your VIN. Other than that I think your best option is a dealer to see what they think.

Yes thanks found the spec out and it hasn’t got the esa installed. Thanks
