Gen 3 - Trigger wire for powered accessory

Am just installing an INNOVV cam on a Ď21 Gen 3 - the unit is powered straight to battery as standard but has a separate switch wire.

This needs to be spliced into a trigger wire on the bikes circuit.

This will signal the unit when the ignition is turned on, to start recording.

Iíve seen instructions for a GS1250 where they tap a red/blue wire but obviously the new S1R loom is different.

My main query is identifying a suitable wire to tap into on the Gen 3 if anyone can advise? - cheers

I believe with the Inovv it's supplied with a USB cable to check the camera(s) work before the install. It powers the control box (brain)

However you will need to use the transformer (permanent 12v) as you mentioned but it requires a switch feed for the yellow wire to activate the control box when the ignition is switched on.

I've fitted a cheaper camera system to my S1000R  (Gen 3) like yourself and was thinking of tapping the yellow wire off the rear number plate light as on / off with ignition then it suddenly hit me.

There's a USB port connection under the seat hump so instead of using the transformer I used the the USB connection cable to the bike USB then to the control box.

It works, turn on the ignition camera system activates and when you turn off the ignition the USB port deactivates after 20 seconds and cameras off.

Saves splicing / tapping into cables.

    Hope this helps?

Thanks for the reply but I checked out that option. The INNOVV K2 has to run directly from battery and does not fully operate from a switched usb feed - it has to be direct to battery with a trigger wire sadly. One of the first things I looked up.

If anyone has any further advice on a suitable wire to tap that would be great ! Cheers.

Why don't you use the USB wire as 'trigger'? Chances are 5V will trigger the wake-up. If not, carefully open the cable between the USB outlet and the connector that connects it to the main wire loom and pick up 12V there.
