Brake Light Faulty Warning
on: October 12, 2021, 03:06:30 AM

Has anyone gotten this warning? It comes up from time to time. While on a ride today, I asked a friend to let me know if my tail lights were shutting off or doing anything weird and they said no.

I will probably take it to the dealership soon but if anyone had this issue and took it back to the dealership, do you know what they did to get rid of it other than replacing the tail lights?

This happens to my S1000RR (2021) at least once on every ride. I told dealer about it and they ordered a new light and will replace existing at 1st service.

Mines comes on a few times every ride so itís a bit alarming to see it pop up. Did your dealership cover it under warranty?

They said they would when I bring it in next week for service. They mentioned they are getting a lot of complaints or something like that with the new rear light (on the RR).

Or the lack of rear light, whoever at BMW thought it was good idea to ditch the rear light and turn the indicators red needs shooting.

Just got back from the dealership and I have to wait till November 2 for the techs to see my bike. I have the Evotech tail tidy coming in so I probably won't install it until this issue is fixed just in case it is a warranty issue.

I remember there was another S1000R on the floor when I bought the bike and when the sales guy was showing me the bike, the same warning came on but the bike wasn't rolling. I wonder if it is a common thing for these new S1000R or just a few bad batches.

Hi, what model do you have? how many km do you have on? it could be either batch or model ...

For now I version M sport production 2 June 2021, 1400km and no problem yet encountered and for now not even in the Italian forums

I have the M Sport model. I am not sure when production was but I am around 1600km. I've pretty much rode with this ever since I got the bike and should have taken care of it at the first service but we'll see what the tech's say in a few weeks.

Oks,...
I'm under 200km compared to you, let's see if when I also reach 1600 or more if the problem arises, I hope not

Update: My buddy owns a RR and installed the Futuristmoto tail lights on his so he told me I could have his OEM  tail lights. At the same time, my Evotech tail tidy came in and I said fí it Iím going to take a chance and install it with the tails from the RR.

So long story short, looks like my tail lights were indeed faulty because I didnít have a warning at all on my test ride. I would usually get that warning within the first 5 minutes but on my 20 minute ride, I didnít get anything. Hopefully it stays that way. Installing that tail tidy was kind of a pain (mostly my faults) and I donít have to deal with the dealership. 😅
