Buying a s1000r.. anything I should look out for?.
on: September 27, 2021, 02:06:36 PM
So I've found a nice 18 plate.. 4k on the clock.. 8 months still in warranty and I'm just wondering if there's anything specific I should ask about as it's highly likely I will have to buy it blind and have it delivered. 😟
I think after reading alot I've seen a fair few mentions of bad vibrations.. right through to camshafts failing and taking the engine out. 😢
So thought I'd ask you experianced lot for any advice on what I should be asking about.. or am I worrying over much?.. 🙂

Hi I've had 2 a red 18 and now a blue 20 they are great bikes buy the sport with all the bits .Compared to my Honda CB1000r the engine sounds like a bag of nails although they are all noisy .Just ride and enjoy prob best value for money naked out there at the moment.

FWIW I put 12500 miles on my 2018 with out any problems at all. The only downside as mentioned above is at idle or low speed constant throttle the motor does sound a bit rattly so don't panic when you get the bike and its sounds that way.  That said when its under load it sounds great especially at full song. That is when the motor is happy when its doing the job its made for. Not to say its trouble at low speeds as its not. Quite the opposite. Just happier when working :)

Things to watch out for especially:- speed traps - this thing breaks all speed limits in first gear and jumps at the chance to do so at the slightest suggestion

You guys got it right. What a beast. I love mine. Also a 2018. That little guy can take you to the edge in just a few seconds. I have a Hepco Becker rack I put on for over night trips and all is well. Also have a MRA double bubble wind screen so I won't get blown off at speed when passing cars etc..
